I stole one of these images and created the other in R, though with basically stolen code (i was working through examples.) The more I get into data visualization, the more I reflect on the places of intersection between them. The similarity in tone and shape between these two in particular - or maybe this painting postcard, which hangs in my office - and any map - made me want to create a little mash-up. So I did. And my usual "brand" name...
