Technical Notes: three layers, portrait on black, "charleston wall", and the numbers layer. Wall layer is set on difference layer. Played with inverting values on numbers layer and adjusted hue and saturation. All of this in preparation for experimentation with ACTUAL lighting using my new studio light :), birthday present. This portrait was taken with just natural light.

Desperation
From the early pregnancy/unemployed period. (before bed rest). Really I just like the design, but feel the image suggests attempted escape. January-ish?
An insuring magazine shoot and a rusty old paint can
I could probably be sued for not crediting the photographer whose work is in the shot, but I will as soon as I can get the energy to go in my studio and look it up. I found the paint can one day on a walk in the winter, on the SC Trail and dragged it home. Ghe juxtaposition of the can and ghe photos is what interests me, it is on standing display.

Blog Note
Day and Night: India Self-Portrait
In my textural explorations, I am most inclined to use my self portraits and/or botanical shots. Partially because they tend to be at once simpler and more artsy than many of my other photos, and partially because I feel more at liberty to manipulate "reality" with these subjects.

Orchid in Fog
I found a flickr group called "fGothic and fine art botanicals" and was inspired by the work. I ha e always enjoyed taking pictures of flowers and plants, and enjoy doing studio shots. So I think that when I get off bed rest, I will work on developing a set of color and monochrome fine art botanical shots.
This is actually an older photo that I just recently edited in gimp and iPhoto. Gimp's "fuzzy border" is pretty neat.
