The Sacred Feminine and Flower, Seed, Stalk

As always, trying to type is a pain in the neck (literally). So just quick notes-my current choir director, David, introduced me to this awesome medieval doctor of the church Hildegard von Bingen.  She is awesome. We have also been talking about the sacred feminine. All of this ties in really well with my artwork, of course. So this evening on my way home from work. I was listening to an album called Canticles of Ecstasy and was captured particularly by the sense of motion in them and had the idea to create these images. So when I got home I did and here are just a few early ones...  These are Hipstamatic prints. I also used my canon to create some but those are still waiting to be edited.

They are still part of the larger work Flower, Seed, Stalk but may be a subsection more specifically inspired by Hildegard.

Photo Meditation

i was doing (trying to do) a short ten-minute meditation with headspace this morning and there was this piece of twine i have hanging around a lamp and it was backlit against the wall and it was soooo beautiful so i ended up looking at it most of the time and obsessing about photographing it and then i ended 28 seconds early to take some shots. here's one; i'm going to do more when i get home. so simple, so light, so many sculptural possibilities. i think that photo meditation counts for SOMETHING, right?
